Sports Fishing

San Carlos is without doubt the best place in the state to go and fish, with calm waters, comfortable temperatures, modern infrastructure, 700 slips for boats divided in two marinas, rental facilities and the main attraction: more than 800 varieties of maritime species that place the area second place in the world. In the last year alone, more than 15,000 fishermen visited San Carlos.

THE SEASONS AND WHAT THEY ARE CATCHING

Summer is the best time of the year to practice sport fishing. This is the time of year when sailfish, dolphin, marlin skyjack and sierra are the most common catches. The deep-sea fish that is also sought during the winter is cabrilla, pinto bass, snapper, whitefish and yellow tail, which often reaches 40 pounds.

Water Sports

Scuba/Snorkeling

The Sea of Cortez is known for its incredible marine life.  The water temperature is tropical and usually above 80 degrees in the summer months and the winter in the low 60s.  Around San Pedro Island the visibility can range from 30 to over 100 feet.  There are numerous diving clubs and places to rent diving equipment in the San Carlos area.  If our guests desire instead of fishing they can take a diving trip with one of the approved dive shops.  For our guest to rent the equipment and enjoy a day of diving they must be a certified diver.

Kayaking is another option to golfing.  The same dive shops have kayak rentals with instructors that participate in the kayaking with our guests.
